Eulogy
Once, when Shlomo was performing at a concert in San Francisco, a broken young man approached him in tears. Shlomo stopped everything, held him tight, and whispered blessings into his ear for ten minutes straight. Years later, that same man became a Jewish educator. Stories like this are endless—he saw the divine spark in people others overlooked.
Born in Berlin and raised in Vienna and later New York after fleeing the Nazis, Reb Shlomo was a Torah scholar trained at Lakewood Yeshiva, yet his soul beat to a different rhythm. He broke the mold—taking his guitar into coffeehouses, campuses, and counterculture gatherings. Drawing on deep Hasidic teachings, he emphasized joy, unity, and love above all else. His music was a divine language, and his message simple: every Jew is holy, every soul is precious.
